Just a stone’s throw from Toorak Road in South Yarra, we’re an artisan bakery cafe that offers a delicious range of sourdough breads, sweet and savoury pastries, granola, pies, sausage rolls, soups and sandwiches. Whether you’re popping in to pick up a loaf of bread, arranging catering for your next event or taking a moment over a coffee and freshly made sandwich, you can expect only the best products made daily, right here, from the finest ingredients.
Our breads are sourdough based, made using locally-milled organic flour and baked on a stone hearth. Baker and owner Michael James is fastidious about his craft and the philosophy that great bread that’s good for you should be made using only flour, water, salt and wild yeast. No additives. No improvers. No stabilizers. At our place, what you see is truly what you get.
And whilst a true passion for giving you the most authentically baked bread brought us here and drives us every day, the same integrity goes in to everything we make – from our traditional Cornish pasties (Michael is from Cornwall, after all) to our buttery croissants and our famous doughnuts … which seem to have put us on the map thanks to flavours like salted caramel, lemon curd and popcorn & peanut butter!
Beyond our bakery on Tivoli Road, our delicious baked goods can also be found at various farmers markets around Melbourne. Fairfield Farmers Market and Abbotsford Convent Slowfood Market are our regular haunts, as well as Carlton Farmers Market on the first Saturday of each month. You can purchase our bread every day at Counter in North Melbourne, and Harper & Blohm in Essendon every Saturday.
